ACKNOWLEDGEMENT & APPRECIATION
On behalf of the Executive Director, Mr. Faruk Adam, the
Board of Directors and the entire leadership of Voluntary Human Care Foundation
(VHCF) and the Chief of Dintigi and the
Chief of Namori ( the Twin villages) where the Agape Child Care School is
situated, and their people. We want to use this opportunity to thank some
individuals who contributed towards the project (ACCSP) in diverse ways. Also,
we will try to capture the progress of the project.
Firstly, we want to acknowledge and thank Sister Faith Davis
of Maryland, USA for donating towards the renovation of the school house and
her efforts to get us donors. Faith Davis pledged to help us employ a full time
teacher for the school and she will bear the cost of the salary of the teacher.
Faith is also putting plans to ship some supplies for the kids of the school.
According to Faith, she is sending individual supplies to each of the kids. God
richly bless her and provide her with the enabling to support these kids. She
believes they are her children.
We also want to thank Madam Frances Jane for her immerse
efforts towards our project success. We have been working with her since at the start of the project and the school. She plays a key role in our project
documentation and also active player of our funding needs. She is currently
trying her possible best to get donors for the project. We thank God for her
life!
It is our pleasure to mention Mrs. Barbara McGee of Casa
Grande, AZ USA. She wrote to us saying that God asked her to support these
deprived kids. After looking at the pictures of the kids on the Executive
Director’s (Faruk) photo album title AGAPE CHILD CARE SCHOOL on facebook.
Barbara already started buying some supplies for the kids; hopefully she will
ship them to Voluntary Human Care Foundation very soon. God bless her and give
her the ability.
We also want to thank the following people for sharing our
stories, pictures and their efforts to get us donors who can donate to the
project. They include;
- Faith Davis of Suitland, Maryland, USA
- Frances Jeanne Smathers Cutshaw of Maggie Valley, North Carolina
- Mrs. Regina Daniel of Jasper, Alabama, USA,
- Barbara McGee of Casa Grande, Arizona, USA
- BOBBY RAY ANDERSON, Washington, USA
- Loretta Wolfenbarger of Columbus, Georgia
PROGRESS ON THE AGAPE CHILD CARE SCHOOL (ACCS)
The school started in February, 2012 with total enrollment of
62 students. Out of the 62 students, 32 were males while the remaining 30 were
females. We started with Volunteer Teacher who has to travel about 4 miles each
day from Monday through Friday to teacher the kids. The founder of Voluntary
Human Care Foundation (VHCF) and the supervisor (Mr. Joseph) jointly get the
teacher some allowance as our monthly appreciation in the form of small cash to
him. The school has since been operating
in an abandoned Church building. The building was having no doors and windows
and the walls were full of cracks not suitable for the kids to learn. The
students also are sitting on the floor to read and write, the little children
are separated during lessons and sent outside the room to be thought outside
since the side of the building is relatively small.
Recently, Faith Davis of Maryland, USA donated towards the
renovation of the building which took place on the 10th of August
this year. However, our students are officially on vacation and will resume on
the 4th of September, 2012. The project still faces some challenges
and list of need that will enhance the running of the school.
CHALLENGES AND IMMEDIATE NEEDS
The number one challenge is the inability to register
Voluntary Human Care Foundation as a nonprofit making organization. We submitted
forms since February 2012 and up to date we are spending large sums of money on
phone calls and traveling to the Register General Department in the Regional
Capital, Tamale. The officials there were not telling us anything tangible for
the past six (6) months, until our recent follow up again, where they said it
was issues relating to TAX Numbers of the Board of Directors. Prayerfully, it
will resolve soon.
The organizations have no physical office building and
substantive stuff. This is difficult for us in organizing our programs. Sometimes we lack certain expertise which is
very crucial to our operation.
The kids are sitting on the floor to read and write! This
makes it difficult for teaching and learning.
We have no permanent teachers
CURRENT NEEDS:
- 2 full time teachers and one classroom assistant
- Motor bike for the supervision of the teachers
- Hire project manager and supervisor for the project
- Text Books for the students
We will come out very soon with a budget for the project and
the entire organization. Thanks for your time in reading.
